As the tagline of Balon Palapag, the official publication of San Carlos City Division keeps abreast with the trend, thus, the staff attended the e-magazine orientation and webmaster training at the Siringan Sanctuary Conference Hall, May 10.
The prelude of the training was initiated by Mrs. Ellen C. De Guzman, BP operation adviser, as she welcomed the new members namely Mr. Ranjit De Guzman, Ms. Geraldine Dadacay, Ms. Racquel Garcia and Ms. Rochel Cedillo, news writers; Mrs. Anna Manelle Rosario, feature writer; and Mr. Bernard Rosario, sports writer and layout artist. She emphasized the importance of writing coupled with passion and dedication. She even quoted the line from a friend which goes “Do good and tell it well.”
Mrs. Virginia Diola, Editor-in-Chief, gave the highlights of the training by means of orienting the new members with the do’s and dont’s in publishing articles. She also introduced the section editors particularly Mrs. Christin Joy Aquino, News; Mrs. Evelyn Mendoza, Feature; and Mr. Maurison Aquino, Sports.
The training was made possible and filled with excitement as Mr. Roldan Eden, the resource speaker, shared his expertise in web making. He discussed workflow management. “Our work will become easier and accessible through this workflow wherein the BP members can eventually open their accounts and do their work,” he said.
Moreover, Mr. Eden highlighted the advantage of web making. He explained flow management of articles from the writer/contributor to the editor per section, graphics/layout artist, associate editor up to the account of the editor-in-chief, then, to be reviewed by the operation adviser before publication. With the workflow, BP members can easily access and navigate the online publication of SCC SDO headed by the Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. Sheila Marie Primicias. Balon Palapag has also its consultants, Dr. Lilibeth Magtang and Dr. Vivian Ofanda; technical adviser, Mrs. Joan Sherbie Acosta and legal adviser, Atty. Liwawa Siapno.
The one day training was concluded through task distribution. The BP family started doing write ups and experienced the new learning they got from their resource speaker.
The said training also tackled ways pertaining to the promotion of BP e-magazine which can be browsed online locally and now even internationally.
