Archery medalists share secrets in winning


Medal awardees in Archery shared their secrets in winning during the Region 1 Athletic Association (R1AA) Meet held at Alaminos City, Feb. 11-15.
Gold medalists John Carlo Dulay and Gloria Lyn Malicdem and silver medalist Mark John Rosete revealed reasons for being victorious in the competition.
According to Dulay, having self-confidence and keeping a strong faith in the Lord were his secret in winning. “Kapit kay God kasi walang imposible sa Kaniya,” he said.

Malicdem revealed that the greatest competitor of an athlete is himself, therefore, one must not allow nervousness or tension defeat him. “Kung minsan ang tumatalo sa isang atleta ay ang kaniyang sarili,” she said. With this, Malicdem emphasized the importance of possessing self-confidence.
“Focus!” Rosete exclaimed as his secret in winning.
Dulay garnered gold in Archery Mixed Event, silver in 30 Meter Distance and bronze medals in 70 Meter Distance and FITA Round. Malicdem hit gold in the Mixed Event, silver in 60 Meter Distance (Olympiad Round) and bronze in 60 Meter Distance (Qualification Round). Rosete won silver in 70 Meter Distance and bronze in 30 Meter Distance.
Dulay and Rosete are Grade 11 and Grade 9 students, respectively, of Turac National High School while Malicdem is a Grade 11 student of Salinap National High School.
Mr. Federico Lopez, Jr. served as their coach. Ms. Arlyn Mendoza and Ms. Desiree Mislang were their assistant coaches.
