In celebration of the victory of San Carlos City Division in the Region 1 Athletic Association (R1AA) Meet at Alaminos City, Pangasinan on February 11-15, a Thanksgiving Mass was held at the Siringan Sanctuary, February 20.
The mass officiated by Rev. Fr. Rojan Ramirez was attended by the winning athletes, coaches, assistant coaches, chaperons, technical officials, tournament managers, team managers, and Department of Education (DepEd) officials, Division of San Carlos City.
In his homily, Fr. Ramirez through his story about a water boy conveyed a message to the athletes not to give up in pursuing their dreams. “In humility, He will grant your heart’s desire,” said Fr. Ramirez.
After the holy mass, a program followed. Mr. Mario S. Cariño, Assistant Schools Division Superintendent, in his welcome remarks mentioned about how surprising the performances of athletes were with the supervision of their coaches for placing the division fourth making a remarkable leap from its being ninth during R1AA 2017. Cariño said “When we dream and become one, we can achieve.”
Mr. Villamor Q. Gloria, Education Program Supervisor and Sports Coordinator thanked everyone’s involvement especially the athletes for a successful turn out of the meet making the division shine. Gloria said, “Nakatulong ang bawat isa sa inyo para makuha ang rank 4 ng San Carlos City.”
Gloria presented the winnings of SCC Division from 2016 – 2018 making comparison and identifying areas or events that need further training. Based on medals earned, there was a giant improvement on the performances of the athletes.
Gloria likewise encouraged the School Heads to support the program “Suporta para sa Atleta” in preparation for next year’s meet. “Maniwala sa experience, coaches at athletes. Maniwala sa pangarap at ang pangarap ay magiging realidad,” said Gloria.
Part of the celebration was the awarding of additional cash incentives to athletes who won gold medals by Dr. Sheila Marie A. Primicias together with the donors. Before the awarding, Primicias shared her thoughts and plans for San Carlos City Division and her noble aim to serve.
Primicias shared her plans for the athletes through the program “Suporta para sa Atleta” and for the division involving the barangay officials, Parents-Teachers Association (PTA), and the retirees in preparation for R1AA 2019. “Malaking bagay pag involved ang lahat,” said Primicias. According to her, through the program, athletes will enjoy benefits which will encourage others to become athletes, too. “Through the Suporta para sa Atleta, they’d wish that they would be athletes of the division,” reiterated Primicias.
Promoting an honest administration, Primicias added that through transparency, we can show how sincere we are in helping our athletes achieve their dreams.
A Post-Meet Conference followed after the program.
City Mayor Joseres Resuello, Engr. Marcelo Casillan and ABC President Enrico Dale graced the occasion.
