Dr. Sheila Marie A. Primicias, Schools Division Superintendent spearheaded the opening of the first ever tournament in the San Carlos City Division – the 1st Superintendent’s Cup 2018 – on September 6 at the Speaker Eugenio Perez National Agricultural School Amphitheater with the participation of over 300 DepEd employees.
SDS Primicias elaborated that the said tournament was conceptualized mainly to hone not just the skills of the players but to build their characters, as well. They should value teamwork and camaraderie among others.
In her inspirational message, the SDS, who is a fitness advocate, mentioned the value of health and attitude. Teachers should not only be in the classroom but a 21st century molder who is driven and optimistic specially in competing and making things possible.
She noted that the tournament aimed to discover potential players from the competing squads. The best players will be picked to form San Carlos City Division Team who will represent the division for possible DepEd Inter-City Competition or in various competitions like invitational matches with the help of Governor Amado “Pogi” Espino.
Significantly, the said Superintendent’s Cup was intellectualized to unleash the hidden talents of SCC DepEd employees and to show that they are sports enthusiasts.
Continuing the legacy of SDO- San Carlos City, SDS Primicias promised her full support to uplift the passion of teachers and employees when it comes to sports which will also serve as a pillar for health of the entire SDO-San Carlos City.
Meanwhile, Mr. Mario Cariño , Assistant Schools Division Superintendent delivered his opening remarks and emphasized the role of a teacher in touching the lives of many, showing sportsmanship and teamwork every game and encouraging each player to do their best always. He mentioned that the tournament is intended for the celebration of World Teachers’ Day which will be on October 5.
The ceremonial toss was spearheaded by SDS Primicias and ASDS Cariño, together with Dr. Editha Pridas, CID Chief and Mr. Villamor Gloria, OIC SGOD Chief. Volleyball (Boys and Girls), Basketball (Boys), Billiards and Chess are the games for the said Superintendent’s Cup. Competing teams are District I, District II, District III, District IV, District VA, District VB, SEPNAS, Division Office.
According to Mr. Federico Lopez Jr, (in charge for Superintendent’s Cup) round robin will be used in identifying the teams who will enter to the semifinals and finals. Winning team will be announced on October 5 as Champion, 1st runner up and second runner up.
