An essential portion of the training was the simulation of an emergency procedure called “lockdown” which was executed by the Division Office’s personnel. A lockdown is an emergency procedure done to a building or even a group of buildings with the intention of securing and protecting occupants who are in the proximity of an immediate danger. When there may be more threats in evacuating a building than staying inside, a lockdown is utilized.
The simulation was an hour-long joint exercise spearheaded by the Department of Education with the participation of Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO), City Health Office (CHO), and Public Order and Safety Office (POSO).
