Through Mayor Resuello’s initiative, SDO SCC receives 100 eco-friendly chairs from Sen. Villar

Senator Cynthia A. Villar together with her Villar Social Institute for Poverty Alleviation and Governance (SIPAG) Foundation donated 100 eco-friendly chairs to San Carlos City Division through the initiative of City Mayor Joseres “Bogs” Resuello, May 18.

The eco-friendly chairs were made up of recycled plastic waste such as food wrappers. A total of 20 kilos of soft plastic is processed to produce one eco-friendly chair that looks like a wooden school arm chair.

The arrival of the said eco-friendly chairs is very timely as there is a need for more school chairs in the opening of classes this coming June 4. School recipients of the chairs, however, are yet to be determined according to Dr. Villamor Q. Gloria, OIC-SGOD Chief, who was present during the turn-over of the eco-friendly chairs at the division office.

With its environmental protection advocacy, the Villar SIPAG Foundation came to the idea of putting up a plastic waste processing plant last May 2013. Its main goal is turning plastic wastes into school chairs which contributes to the drive of reducing and recycling plastic wastes into a useful form. Since then, thousands of school chairs were already produced and distributed for free to different schools all over the country.

Aside from environmental protection, Villar SIPAG Foundation also extends help to OFWs and creates livelihood opportunities to reduce poverty.
