The activity started at 10 am. As the bell rang for 30 seconds, all division office occupants walked fast outside the building and assembled at the evacuation area while executing the “Duck, Cover and Hold” technique.
As part of the drill, the members of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) headed by SFO Thelma F. Diaz together with the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) personnel came to rescue casualties. They executed the steps on how to rescue and provided first aid to injured victims. Selected participants were also asked to put out the man-made fire using fire extinguisher. One of them was Dr. Priscilla Castro, SGOD Chief. In this way, everyone was made aware of the proper manipulation of the equipment.
The conduct of the drill aimed to test the efficiency and usefulness of the preparedness, response and recovery plans, systems and policy developed in the localities, offices or in schools. It also aimed to evaluate contingency plans, test the coordination and communication mechanism during response operation and promote understanding of the command and control mechanism in emergency and disaster operation at the DRRMCs.
The participants, after the drill and simulation, were enlightened and indeed, the line “Ligtas Ang May Alam” speaks.
