Kudos, Filipinos!

Resilience. Counterpoise.

These are what we have!

Filipinos tend to do such acts which can be admirable amidst life circumstances. This can be seen evidently on the ear-splitting smile and surreal attitude of our kabaleyan even in the midst of difficult situations. Bravura with a positive aura, Pilipinas!

Due to the incessant downpour of rain caused by undeniably queueing of tropical depressions just like a scenario of clogged road vehicles outragingly speeding up just to get in (from #IndayPH to #JosiePh to #KardingPh) to hit and stir habagat in our beloved land-Philippines, a week-long experience of hearing the tic-tac pour of water in the not so saddle roof of our abodes brought high alert alarm in our senses- be it physically, mentally, emotionally, socially and most of all spiritually. This somehow rekindles our inner self as human beings.

Usec. Umali graces the Regional BE Kick-Off Ceremony in SDO SCC

San Carlos City, Pangasinan-Usec. Tonisito MC. Umali,Undersecretary for Legislative Liaison Office, External Partnerships Service and School Sports, graced the Regional Brigada Eskwela Kick-Off Ceremony in the Schools Division Office of San Carlos City. The event was held at the Don Federico Mandapat Sports Dome, May 28. It was attended by DepEd Personnel from 14 divisions of the region headed by Dr. Alma Ruby C. Torio, Regional Director and the workforce of the five districts of the host division.

Before the ceremony started, a number of teaching and non-teaching staff, parents, supporters, volunteers and other stakeholders participated in the motorcade in the key streets around the city. Right after the motorcade, the program started with the singing of national anthem and other hymns with AVPs which were produced by the SDO-SCC. Mr. Mario S. Cariño, SCC ASDS, presented and welcomed the participants starting from the undersecretary, regional director, officials of the different schools divisions and the districts of the host division.

USec Umali: Partnership is essential in BE

“The essence of our organization is to engage the family, the community, and other stakeholders to develop lifelong learners.” These words of USec. Tonisito MC. Umali were unmistakably clear and resounding inside the Don Federico Mandapat Sports Complex as he spoke to the participants of the Brigada Eskwela Kick-Off of Region 1 on May 28. He reiterated, “Mali. Mali. Hindi po ninyo naipapatupad ang inyong tungkulin kung hindi po ninyo ito naisasagawa sa isang pamamaraan na ang inyong komunidad ay naisasama.”

The undersecretary was jolly but firm in stating the constitutional and legislative bases of his urgent entreaty specifically, RA 9155 and Article 14, Section 1 of the Constitution. “Itong ginagawa natin ay hindi tipong isang programa na naisip lamang. I want you to know that all of the things that we are doing are part of our core mandate.”

An Event to Linger

The attainment of quality education depends on the concerted efforts of the persons involved in the system.
Yearly, before the opening of the school year, everyone involved in the education sector is in joyful anticipation of a momentous event that showcases the undying spirit of oneness, generosity, camaraderie, and the ever-present bayanihan spirit. That is the Brigada Eskuwela – an annual event that began in 2008 by virtue of DepEd Order No. 24, s. 2008 which aims to prepare the schools in various aspects for the opening of a new school year.

USec Umali, RD Torio – all praises to SCC BE Kick-Off

SAN CARLOS CITY-It’s the first time of SCC to host the Regional Kick-Off of Brigada Eskwela on May 28 but Usec. Tonisito MC. Umali, who was the guest of honor and speaker of the event, and Region 1 Director Alma Ruby C. Torio were all praises to both the schools division office and local government unit of the city.

“Talagang napakahusay ng ating SDS Sheila, hindi po ba?” was the very first line of USec. Umali in his speech. And regarding the event hosting, “This will easily qualify as a National Kick-Off of Brigada Eskwela, napakaganda, nakapakahusay,” said the undersecretary. Even the visual presentations were admired. “Napakahusay ng tagagawa ng slides ng ating schools division and I like to engage our SDS Sheila para malaman ko kung sino ang mga ito, kukunin ko para sa opisina ko ,” he jested. Moreover, the energetic undersecretary had obviously and repeatedly quoted Mayor Resuello who delivered his welcome message prior to the guest of honor’s speech. His commendation for the mayor was due, foremostly, to the latter’s commitment to school facilities improvement and sports programs. As USec. Umali called for community involvement, he confessed, “Region 1, lalawigan ng Pangasinan, lungsod ng San Carlos, napakahusay, epektibo, at may malasakit sa komunidad.”

Not a Benchwarmer After All (How BE Regional Kick-Off Educated an Educator)

Change can be frightening, and the temptation is often to resist it. But change almost always provides opportunities – to learn new things, to rethink tired processes, and to improve the way we work.

Klaus Schwab nailed in those vivid words how I see May 28, 2018 – specifically this Brigada Eskwela (BE) 2018 Regional Kick-off Ceremony. This is my 6th Brigada Eskwela experience and I am a neophyte in attending a regional kick-off ceremony. I was forestalling a half-hearted participation from this startled self as I thought I would just be a benchwarmer. Nonetheless, as this is the first time that SDO-SCC inaugurates our Brigada Eskwela with DepEd Region 1 personnel and delegations, such change opens new horizons for me. Let me share them in three points, coining Schwab’s quote with BE 2018 theme.

“…to learn new things…”: Pagkakaisa

Dr. Precilla Rosario Castro: Epitome of a True Leader

An extraordinary educator, a teacher of excellence and an astute leader. These are the phrases uttered by her colleagues when she retired in the government service. Her perceptiveness as a leader transcended all boundaries and for her, that path was endless-not only confined to the walls of office, but to the cultural arena where her scope for creativity was incomparable. She is an epitome of determination, dynamism and industry. In her stint as the OIC Chief of the School Governance and Operations Division, she had positively transformed her peoples’ perception towards work. Her influence to good governance resonated in the Division of San Carlos City and her dedication and commitment will surely be missed.

ISO 9001 is the world’s most popular management system standard. It is an excellent framework to help manage businesses effectively to be operationally resilient, build long-term success and most of all ensure customer satisfaction. The quality management system requirements specified in this International Standard are complementary to requirements for products and services.

When Modern Day Heroes Meet A Star

It was a day like any other day… or so I thought. There I was, walking along the busy streets of San Carlos City, with an umbrella strategically poised over my head. Summer this year really lives up to its name, as it was almost unbearably hot that day. Against the clear forget-me-not blue sky was the sun — white hot, unforgiving, alive and blazing. To top it all off, the air was dry and arid, with little to no swooshes of wind.

I was at the city plaza, in front of the towering St. Dominic Church, sunlight spiking off of its white exterior. Even in the heat, the church looked breathtaking. The sun seemed fluid, with its light managing to find its way into all hidden nooks and crannies. Even my umbrella was of no match to its persistence. All I really needed right then was a cool drink and some place the sunlight could not penetrate.

From afar, a distant ruckus impinged upon my ears. I turned my head towards where I heard the noise, searching and curious. As if on their own accord, my feet began moving to the source of the noise. Hey, I was curious and desperate for shade, okay? I soon found myself at the mouth of the Arenas-Resuello Complex, where a sea of multitudinous colors was gathered — people, clad in different colored shirts, with handheld fans waving rhythmically.

I recognized them as teachers, and it soon hit me. That day was the 29th of April, and it was devoted to the city’s celebration of the Educators’ Day.
